This resort is known as the ‘hidden gem’ of the Tarentaise Valley. As it is un-crowded there are no lift queues and the snow conditions remain superb long after the nearby mega resorts are skied out. The lift system gives access to a huge off-piste area accessible to intermediates and experts plus an extensive snow park. The pisted runs are some of the most varied and picturesque you will see anywhere. The picture at the top of this page shows a view of the ‘back country’ as seen from the top of the Col de l’Aiguille lift (2680m) taken March 2003. With a guide the back country doubles the ski-able area accessible from Sainte-Foy. Many famous ski resorts are accessible by car/taxi or (free) bus. The closest lift into Tignes at Les Breviers is les than 15 minutes drive, this gives access to the largest ski-able area in the world including Val D’Isere. Note that Tignes has all year round skiing on its the glacier which includes 20km of runs and a snow park. Less than 10 minutes drive is Villaroger with a lift into Les Arcs, from winter 2003 Les Arcs will be connected by ski lift to the La Plange resort. Finally 20 minutes drive takes you to another less crowded resort La Roserie, from here you can ski over into Italy’s La Thuile. Other winter activities include:- · Dog sledding · Para gliding · Snow shoe walking · Cross country skiing · Ice skating · Ice rallying · Bob sledding · Ice climbing and caving A company called Evolution2 organises most of the above activities see their website for details. |
